Googling yourself

Read the blog and the check out the link to Will Richardson's weblog at the bottom. What are you putting out there for prospective employers to see? What can the school do get more positive information out there for the students we teach?

Googling yourself is a waste of your time and doesn't do anything for you unless it's someone famous that's why I don't like to google. It's because all the rich people who waste their time putting their face all over the internet and other stuff.

If an employer wishes to google someone I would think they would chose to view their facebook profile first. Facebook would give way more information than googling because the person makes their profile and puts out there what they're doing partying, drinking, etc. People learn so much about someone over the internet: when you're born, sports, hobbies, favorite books. Anything people want to know is on the web. The school could use blogs the correct way by trying to use them for class, it is easier and more convenient.

I don't think there's anything online that I wouldn't want my employer to see. I don't have many worries.

Googling myself I find my blog and the honor roll. That's about it - maybe some scores from sports, but there's not a whole lot.

I have done it many times but I never am able to find myself. I only find my aunt who is a scientist who makes animal vaccines. It is crazy or I get my uncle who is a teacher. It gets crazy because I cannot find myself. So I do not see the point any more. So anyway... hope the play is tomorrow. Google the name and see what comes up.

I think that googling yourself is important. I mean i belong to so many online websites, but am never on them. I have tried before, but nothing came up, except a link to brooke shields, but i do think it is important because when you are applying for a job after college, and they do a web check on you, and you have innapropriate stuff on there, that could cost you the job. So don't put something on the internet that you would regret later. that's my motto.

I google myself, but I never find anything about me or my family. I go to all the websites and see what they are. I would never put a picture of me on the internet because there may be some people out there trying to find.

I think if a business is going to google you they are just wasting their time. If they wanted to be way more effefctive they would just go onto facebook. Facebook gives a way better description and they can see what you talk about and what you like. Googling yourself is a waste of time most people dont find themselves

This just shows how careful you have to be on what you put out there for other people to see. There are all kinds of people out there waiting to prey on little children that may be put just a little too much, it happens a lot just watch fox news. But, I do believe that you should have some basic information out there so people can notice you and possibly give you an edge. I guess I wouldn't start with google, I would probably narrow my search down to facebook or myspace first and if I can't find anything Google would be my last resort.

Its a waste of time because usually your not on there and it makes no sence to look up yourself when you already know who you are. And if i got a job i wouldnt want to have my boss looking on google for me and find a bad picture of me on there

i think you just do it when you are borde i tried it a few times and i could find my bebo website and the stuff i put on there i just think googleing yourself is just a waste of time

Um, maybe if you didn't put bad pictures of yourself on the internet in the first place, Blake, no one would find them...

Yeah. I admit it. I've googled myself myriad times...but got nothing. I mean, come on! Can you just imagine how many "Ashley Lynch"s there are out there?! too many, in my opinion. Which is why I should change my name...but whatever

Im gonna have to go with a lot of the other people because googling yourself is a waste of time and it could be a bad deal if your employer finds somthing bad on google about you. I would rather have them search a website that i have used a lot.

I think googling people for jobs can and can't be a good idea. If there is a bad picture of yourself on google it might be a good idea to get rid of it so an employer doesn't see it. A bad picture on google could put a job opportunity in jepordy!
