technology

We are currently in an age where technological improvements come at lightning speed. Most people, especially the digital immigrants of my generation, cannot keep up with all the changes. What is the best part of the technology that is available today? What do you use and what could you not live without? As digital natives the current generation has great advantages over all past generations. What are some of those advantages?

How can teachers teach using the technology available to students and schools? Is just word process and using PowerPoint enough use of technology? What program or software would you love to learn how to use?

The best part of technology that’s available today is probably the computer or the camera because you can look and find anything you want on the computer and you can even watch TV, so out goes the television with that. Cameras stop time and let you re-live the moment, to me that is fascinating. I couldn’t live without my MP3 player, computer, or camera. Advantages are that they can access almost anything and everything faster and have more/better information. Using just word and PowerPoint are not enough use of technology-that’s just a form of something in the computer. Of course it is good to learn but it’s not the most important. I would like to learn to use the “computer lingo,” but I don’t want to be graded on it; sometimes with new things, it takes me time to learn and I’d rather learn with just one other person so I don’t feel stupid for being a little slower than the rest if that’s what it came down to.

Jamie, would you like to create your own website, publish your writing and thoughts in a weblog or learn to use an RSS feed to gather information. What about the authorship that can be had through the tools available via the internet. It is possible for ordinary students to become well-known for some creation that they have created and published to the WWW. What about podcasting or a digital photography show? The possibilites are endless, but do students know what is out there?

Teachers can use technological advances such as DVDs, CDs, and games to help students learn. Since i'm a gamer, i'd rather play a game that you get pts in for getting correct verb tenses and such than read through a book and do wksts that'll get done an hour or two before class starts. No word and ppt are not enough use of technology. I know alot of technology that could be use instead of that stuff that students would enjoy to use like movie maker as a basic one. they'd could use a microphone, make audio files, put it in a movie, add pictures, and present to the class instead of making a ppt.

I think that tecnolgy like a computer is a good thing but can also be a bad thing if you dont use it wright like for research thats a good thing but for sites like pornagrapic things are naughty. The tecnolgy is a good and bad things.
