Read this and tell me if you think it would work. Is what the article says about why kids cheat accurate? How do we show that learning is more important than grades in this society?

You know, that is purdy darn accurate. Colleges are looking for well-rounded students, but how can we be that with sports, E.A., work, and school? It's a bit hard, I'll say. Grades aren't always that important (take my APUSH grade for example). That's the one thing I really hate about school --the NEED to do well.
I think it's more important if you LEARN something...regardless of how well you do in that class. Knowledge is way more powerful than anything I know, and when you have a tough grading scale and over-achieving students, that doesn't mix well at all. Students today feel the need to do well in school, whether it be by studying or cheating. I think colleges play a HUGE and crucial part in all of this. I hope the research goes well!!! It surely would be great =D
I think smaller classes and more teachers would be a great way to stop cheating, but our government doesn't know how to plan anything or budget well. I'll probably be hated for saying this, but I think sports should be community and left out of school. This would probably promote learning more.
I don't hate you Ben! That's actually a purdy darn good idea, actually. That way, there wouldn't be as much competition because then it would be open to EVERYBODY and not a select few.
Cheating has become a major problem in our school. And it gets you absolutely nowhere. I think that cheating could be stopped or decreased by not giving a large group of students such a large assignment so abruptly and having it due like the next day. With having two groups of a class its easy just to ask the other kids in the class that have in 2 hours before you what was all on the test. Getting good grades is like a competition...who doesnt want them? People who cheat learn nothing and when they get to places like college...who's going to help you cheat?
I agree with cassie. Grades are a big competetion and its brought on by our parents. Personally my mom will get mad if I have a B+ she will start to ask whats going on. I think that the only way to stop cheating is to make smaller classes and give more time on assignments. Basically cheating happens because of laziness and the competetion to get better grades.
