Good News

I have stopped watching the news. I dislike that the only topics discussed are negative- flooding, tornadoes, death, killing, murders, rapes, abuse. You name a terrible event and the news will report it. I watch the weather on the computer, so I don't have to view the disturbing topics on the news broadcast. Why can't the news programmers have more that a two-minute segment on the scholar of the week or on someone paying it forward or doing good for others? The only good I have seen for the past week happened in another country- the wedding of William and Kate, but that is done with and now we see nothing. Even then, the broadcasters over analyze the subject and make predictions they have no business making. We see 25 minutes of negative and 2 minutes of positive. Why is that?

I believe that people are more amused with people and events that are bad than the things that are good. I think that people like to talk about what is going on and gossip about it, but they only like to talk about negeative things. There are many people that talk about others behind people backs. They don't have any good to say so they just talk about what they think they know and make rumurs. I wish that it could be the other way but life is not fair we just deal with it.

I have noticed this too! And I have asked my parents why they show all this "crap" on TV, I don't want to hear all these horrible things that don't even pertain to my state. ha Sorry but I don't. I really wish they would have to go and find out good news instead of all this negative feeds that they show. Although today, they did show a little bit about my new little nephew, so I have to say that was somewhat nice to watch! :) I think they do it because that is all they have ever known to find. You occasionally hear about the good things that happen, I guess I don’t recall that many but there are some. I just wished they showed more of those.

I believe that the media does this because that is the only news that really catches peoples eye these days. This really isn't the media's fault, but the people who fallow the media. They are the ones that cause this drop in the positivity of media. I am so sick of people blaming the media for the negativity of the news. It's the people that seek this negativity that are to blame for this. IT's not the media's fault that the viewers prefer negativity in spite of the positive news that we oh so barely ever hear of. Though the media is at fault for the smeering, the plastering, and overall bring out the worst in people. It's not their fault that the people are just naturally bad. It's the nature of man.

This is very true, but this doesn’t just pertain to the news. TV in general has converted to violence, sex, drugs, abusive movies and shows, and ect. I personally have never really sat down to watch the news, because i believe that if i need to know it that badly i will hear it at school or that night around the table at dinner, but i have heard that the news is only focusing on the negative lately. I also personally believe that if the broadcasters would focus on positive things maybe the people living in this world would have more of a positive outlook on life, but this is just a theory

Bad news is viewed more than good new for one reason; people love to see and hear terrible things as long as they aren't happening to them. Most can not fight the urge to look upon an event that has "ruined" another beings way of life. It's almost instinct to see these broadcast and wait to see what has gone wrong, what will go wrong, and what could go wrong. Think about it, as a child or even now, when someone tells you not to look or listen, you may either look away and subtley look/listen anyway. Or you will obey the person and paint an image in your mind of what could be the one thing you can't view.

I feel that we only see the negative because that's all some people ever want to watch. Sure there are other things going on in the world that would be a lot more positive than what we get now. Although I find it very disturbing to turn on the TV and they are talking about shootings or something in that neighborhood. It's just so wrong I mean really you don't always have to report the negative. I think it would actually be better to have much more positive news because it would make people's lives just that much better in a day. Besides positive new would make for less violence because when all you hear about is the negative things that is all people really hear about or even some people might start doing just because they want to be recognized and become famous for something very wrong.
