As far as grading goes, I believe it is important because it teaches kids to work hard and apply themselves in school. Even so, I don't believe that grades are the only means of evaluating a student. For example, I know many students who produce better grades than me, but yet I still know more common knowledge and Iam better informed on many topics. I believe this is because many students get too involved in trying to obtain good grades and they only learn the material for a short time. Where as students like myself like to learn things on our own and discover information not taught in the classroom. Don't get me wrong, things taught in class are important, but what you learn on your own in the world, is equally or possibly more important.

What Jared mentions is true. What do you think?

Learning is important because it teaches us to get ready for future education if you take education after high school. Also it helps us make wise decisions in the future. For some people they want to learn as much as they can for the occupation they want, not only after college, but for their carrer, that's why I think that learning is important.
OK Kasey, but how does that related to grades. Of course learning is important, but how does learning impact grades and how do grades impact learning? How are they tied together?
I think grades are important along with things being learned beyond just the grades. Its important to have good grades because thats how colleges deside whether or not you're a good student. But, common knowledge of matters is also very important. So, if a student can both have good grades and can learn beyond just what they are taught then the student would do exceedingly well. I think that first off grades are most important though.
When it comes to grades, it shows how well we can right things on paper. It shows how we can copy stuff down or remember what we could memorize and forget quickly. I think that it should not be judged because kids can learn differently about things than memorizing and it is even harder when they have a hard time reading. For some kids oral tests would be better, but that is beside the subject. It is important to pass us based on how we can apply the skills we learned on different things, not to have worksheets that we can cheat off of or tests that kids try and cheat, but tests that we can only do by ourselves and that is only appliable to the person doing it.
I completely agree with Jared. Grades are very important because we are graded our whole lives. In school, we will be graded on what content we learn, even though it may not be that important. For example, trigonometry may never be used again for most of us, but we still have to learn it and be graded on it. Once we get into the real world, our bosses will grade us on our working ability. In my opinion, like Jareds, sometimes the knowledge we learn out of school on our own is more important than what we learn in school. The life lessons are very important as well.
I also agree with Jared. Learning the things we do in school are important and some of the things, depending on what you want to go into for college, are useful. At the same time, how many of us will every use trigonometry? Like Drew stated, that is something not most people use from day to day. In my opinion, people learn better from their mistakes then from learning what to do and what not to do out of a book. I also know some people that can sit in a classroom, listen to the lecture, then walk out and recite it to a friend in the hallway. And for the grading part of it, in the "real world" you are graded on how you do your job, how you live your life, and how much common sence you have. Different people learn in different ways, some people are better off learning from their mistakes. Others are better at learn from the class room. It all boiles down to what way fits you.
