I think what makes a leader great is there will to take control of what is going on, and keep it in an orderly fashion. They have to be stern, but polite to get along with the people they are working with. They also need to be strict in a nice way, but be open for ideas from other people. The have to be a well organized person with enough free time to get the job done. They need to be able to be open-minded and have a creative mind. They also need to be able to handle pressure and people yelling at them, and learn to just shake it off so it doesn't get to their head. Being a leader requires multiple skills and it is a job that should be taken by someone that can handle what is thrown at them.
I believe that a good leader is someone who can take control of a situation and doesn't have to step on any toes to get in his or her position. They are liked by most in the group and have great organizational skills, can handle being asked to do multiple things and can delegate those things to other people in the group, and need to not take offensive things said about he or she, or the group and can just shake it off and work to prove that person wrong. You have to have multiple skills to be a good leader, and it isn't a job to be taken lightly. Some good leaders from our past, that I think are good leaders are JFK, Helen Keller, and Hillary Clinton.
I think that it is the ability to harangue a crowd and convince them to do things your way, but doing so in a way that does not lead them to believe that they are being convinced. You have to be patient, but stern and a force to be recconned with, but not in a domineering way. People have to respect your athority, but not neccesarily like you. I don't think it has much to do with popularity, but charm and charisma are both important, because without these, you turn into more of a dictator than a leader. Some really great leaders, in my opinion, were/are Hillary Clinton, Harriet Tubman, Sojouner Truth, and Ghandi because all of these people got their beliefs out there in the open and convinced multitudes of people that their way was the way to go, but did not do so in a condescending manner that made people feel guilty.
I think that a good leader is someone that has much more than good looks, the ability to talk in front of a group of people, or a winning smile that people often look for. You can be the best looking person in the world, and still be a horrible leader. I believe that a good leader should be someone that is responsible, hardworking, involved, qualfied, and personable. If you can't work with others, you aren't going to be a good leader. If you forget things and aren't responsible, you arent going to be a good leader either. I think busy people make better leaders because they don't have to adapt to lead, theyre already ready and experienced to lead. I think that leaders should be positive role models also because otherwise no one would look up to them.Leaders also should be able to make good decisions, for the better of the people, group, or situation that they are dealing with.

Hey Anonymous!! I am confused about your comment. What do you mean? It would help if you signed your name.
A great leader can vary. I don't think that it is fair to put only certain traits on what can make someone a "good leader" because one may become an amazing leader by using different traits. Different jobs require different qualities needed for leadership and not everyone is able to abtain and use those qualities in a good fashion...Although leadership varries, some quallities are always important such as being responsible and on time. One also needs somewhat good speaking skills, unless they are leading mimes because then speaking skills don't matter...Anywho, being able to handle pressure and negative comments or events is also important in being a leader. If one fails to pull through during a tough time, then they aren't going to be a very successful leader and probably won't be overly liked.
For leaders you need great ability to speek and convince. People are able to lead whether they are smart or dumb or just plain crazy. If they can get you to believe what they want, then you follow them. A great leader should have charisma and a good head on their shoulders. They should be able to think on their feet and listen to the ones they are leading. It is important to do what the majority you are leading wants you to do, because if you don't then you become a individualist... I do not know if that is a good thing or not.
In my opinion, leaders dont have to be good looking at all. For example, look at all of our past presidents. Most are old men, but what do they have in common? You have to be a good speaker and be able to get people to believe in you and trust your ideas. I believe that you also have to treat people with respect if you expect to get the same back.

A good leader has to be calm, cool, and collected at all times. They do not panic, and always have things under control. There are many types of leadership. Some lead by example, and others lead by delagating tasks, and such. I have read a book called "The Leadership Challange". This book explained the 5 exemplary practices of leadership: Model the Way, Inspire a Shared Vision, Challange the Process, Enable Others to Act, and Encouraging the Heart. This book was rather boring, but was full of good ways this generation can become good leaders by practicing the basics of leadership skills.
To be a good leader, I believe that a person must be able to set his/her own rules and make sure everyone follows them. A leader should not have their favorites that can get away with breaking the rules, everyone should be treated equally. They need to be prepared to handle any obstacles or problems that they are faced with. A lot of time leaders are faced with being accused of actions that happend on the team or with the group, they need to be able to be stable and strong and handle this by themselves without getting other people involved. A leader must have a positive attitude and be able to encourage and discipline people at the same time.

Organization is a huge factor in being a good leader as well, you need to be ready and prepared to lead your group or team no matter what happens. You have to be encouraging and positive and able to discipline at the same time.
I think a good leader is someone who can talk to people, knows how to take charge, and sets a good example for others. The leader has to know how to communicate easily to others so something can be accomplished. On the other hand, the leader has to able to listen to what others say. Also, a good leader has to be able to handle difficult situations, but not be too over bearing. Finally, a good leader has to set a good example for others because the other people look up to the leader for guidance.

I believe a good leader’s best quality is his or hers ability to be an individual. A good leader has to be able to take control of a situation and to do the right thing regardless of what people say or think. I also believe that a leader’s ability to speak is extremely important. Being good at speaking helps you persuade people and be on your side. Hitler was a great example of this, but he used his great speaking in an evil way. A leader should also be responsible, diligent, and a good listener. Leaders also have to be respectful because then they’ll get respect back.
I think that being a good leader means having the ability to work well and get along with others. If nobody wants to be around you then obviously you wont lead anyone to success. People want to be lead by someone who has good social skills, at least I would. Being active throughout the community and always being able to voice your own opinion are qualities that a good leader must have. Poeple want to follow someone who shows all of these skills. Nobody wants to be led by a loser.
A good leader has to have the ability to stay in control at all times. They do not have to be good looking or great at sports. They have to have a calm, and can't give in to the rowdiness of others. A leader is supposed to be hard on you, yet not to harsh because thats more like a dictatorship. I also think they need to be able to help any given situation in an effortless way. I also believe that leaders should be able to handle pressure from all aspects.
Personally, I feel that a true leader is someone who puts the people he or she is leading before themselves. A truely great leader is someone who is unselfish and wants only the best for their followers. It doesn't matter how well they deliver a speech or how flashy they may campaign, a great leader gets things done for the well being of their people, no matter the cost. I see someone used Hillary Clinton and Harriet Tubman as examples. I understand Harriet Tubman, she risked her life so others like her could have freedom. But Hillary Clinton? She hasn't done much for me anyways.
I think, what makes a good leader is someone who will take charge and won't panic and who will comfort anyone who needs it after something that happended to them that was really bad. They need to be nice, caring, and helps anyone in need. I don't think what makes a good leader is like Hitler. A leader that isn't mean, competative, and if full of revenge for someone like if someone was making fun of his or her for now reason, then they think it is right to get power for their own advantage and use it to torture other people. What makes a good leader is a person who uses his or her power for the right reasons, like helpinga a kid get up if they fell or helping an elderly person cross the road. I think a good leader is someone who is proud of themselves and is supportive to others.
leadership is something that i dont have. yes i think it may take some skillz to do this either that you know how to be organized. but i like to follow and help as much as i can and earn respect. if i become a leader for a group i will try my best to pass it on to someone else. but you need to know what ur doing otherwise your not going to do well.
Wow, Hailey those are some characteristics that no one else commented about. I love the idea that a good leader uses his or her power and leadership ability to do good and right things. What great thoughts, thanks.
By the way Zach, read the rules and don't use text language in these blogs, please.
